DATE: April 25, 2022
TIME: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Whitemarsh Township Administration Building, 616 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill
Montgomery County invites the public to stop by anytime between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 25, 2022 at the Whitemarsh Township Administration Building for a pre-construction open house for Section D of the Ridge Pike Improvement Project. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the timing of Section D, meet the construction team, and ask questions. Section D, which extends from Crescent Avenue to Philadelphia and traverses through Whitemarsh and Springfield Townships, will have construction activities beginning in May.
Much of Ridge Pike (between Crescent and Northwestern Avenues) needs extensive repair to improve safety and mobility for both drivers and pedestrians. The work in this section involves a full-depth roadway reconstruction that improves safety and reduces congestion. Improvements include adding traffic signals at Crescent and Barren Hill Roads, adding an eastbound through lane between Harts Lane and Northwestern Avenue, and adding much-needed storm water management facilities.
Pedestrian safety and transit accessibility will be improved by providing a continuous sidewalk along the southwestern side of the road and consolidating SEPTA bus stops, which will be made ADA compliant. Ridge Pike between Norristown and Philadelphia is owned by the county and the work in Section D is funded 100 percent by the Montgomery County government.
