Norristown, PA (May 17, 2017) – The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) is hosting two workshops to find out what the community thinks about bicycling for the county’s new bicycle mobility plan, Bike Montco. Workshop participants will be invited to share their experiences of biking in Montgomery County as well as suggest opportunities for improvement. The Bike Montco plan will recommend key policies for bicycle safety, recommend bicycle facilities, and highlight implementation opportunities and funding.
The workshops will be in an open house format with provided refreshments, and everyone is invited to stop by when convenient. The first workshop is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at the Skippack Administrative Building, 4089 Heckler Road, Collegeville. The second workshop is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at the Upper Dublin Township Building, 801 Loch Alsh Avenue, Fort Washington.
MCPC has also developed a user-friendly online map that offers the public an additional opportunity to provide input while creating the plan. The map can be used to bring attention to obstacles or barriers that prevent safe bicycle riding. The public can also make other suggestions and share their favorite biking routes or identify routes they would like to see improved.
“We would like to hear from the community on what would make biking safer and easier. This plan will propose bike-friendly connections throughout the county to trails, transit hubs, parks, downtowns, retail centers, and schools,” said Jody L. Holton, AICP, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission.
