There’s nothing like a little healthy competition to fight off the winter blues and support a good cause! Staff members of the Montgomery County Office of Children & Youth divided into four (4) teams and over a seven-week period competed to see which team could bring in the most canned goods for the Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton. The Keystone Opportunity Center operates a food pantry in the north central portion of Montgomery County and serves over 200 hundred families a month.
The teams were divided as follows: Intake, Ongoing, Placement Resources, and Administration. Teams were encouraged to bring in cereal, oatmeal, granola & cereal bars, pancake mix & syrup, canned meats such as tuna, chicken, ham, salmon, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, personal care items such as shampoo, razors, toothpaste, body wash, deodorants, feminine hygiene products, laundry soap, condiments such as ketchup, mayo, mustard, oil and sugar to stock pile the food pantry.
All four teams did an exceptional job, but the Intake Team took the prize for the most donations! All totaled, the Montgomery County Office of Children & Youth staff donated 2,239 items, nearly one ton, to the food pantry!
