On October 10, 2013, the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Land Preservation Board approved Montgomery County’s request to preserve the farm belonging to Upper Frederick Township resident Gloria Marriott. The Marriott Farm is the latest addition to the county’s farmland preservation program. This brings the number of county-preserved farms to 150. The farm, which grows feed crops in Upper Frederick Township, has been in the Marriott family since 1951. With more than 8,800 acres of preserved farmland in the county – and many more working farms – farming continues to be an important part of the county’s economy.
