Posted on March 12, 2014 at 1:36 PM by Rita McKelvey

Planning Commission Assistant Director Leo Bagley took part in a panel discussion at the 2014 Spring Convention of the Montgomery County Association of Township Officials (MCATO) on Friday. He spoke alongside PennDOT District 6 Executive Les Toaso and Joseph DeSantis, President of McMahon Associates, about the significant impact the transportation funding bill (Act 89) will have on Montgomery County and the region over the next ten to fifteen years.  Click here for Leo’s presentation.

Montgomery County Commissioners Josh Shapiro, Chair; Leslie S. Richards, Vice Chair; and Bruce Castor, commissioner, started off the morning meeting. Commissioner Shapiro spoke about fostering the county/municipal partnership and used the recent ice storm as an example. Commissioner Richards discussed the importance of several MCPC initiatives including the PA Turnpike Corridor Reinvestment study and the update of the county's comprehensive plan. Commissioner Castor spoke of the partnership on public safety between the county and municipalities to upgrade the radio system in a cost effective manner.

The planning commission provided municipal officials and others attending the event information on the community planning assistance program, MCPC services and resources, the new county comprehensive plan, the PennDOT Decade of Investment plan, the turnpike corridor reinvestment study, and upcoming events offered by MCPC.
