Due to the evolving Coronavirus situation, Montgomery County has decided to cancel our Foster/Resource Parent Pre-Service Training Sessions for March 14, 2020 and March 21, 2020.

Requirements for Being a resource Parent/foster Home

Becoming a foster/resource parent is easier than you think. Basic resource parent requirements:
  • Be willing to participate in pre-service resource parent training
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have a home or apartment that meets basic standards as set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS)
  • Provide a positive physical and emotional environment for children
  • Can be:
    • Married or single
    • Working parents or stay-at-home parents

Pre-service Foster / Resource Parent Training

Resource parents are urgently needed for sibling groups, teens, and minority children. In order to become approved as a resource parent, you must attend one (1) orientation class and all pre-service resource parent training classes in a session.

Please note: Topics can be of a mature nature, therefore, children are not able to attend.
