Montco 2040 Updates

Montco 2040 Masthead

Proposed updates

More than five years have passed since Montgomery County's comprehensive plan, Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, was adopted and much has been achieved through the plan’s implementation process. New development has taken place, land has been preserved, and many transportation and trail projects have been completed. While a new comprehensive plan will be prepared for 2025, we have an opportunity now to incorporate the changes that have taken place since 2015 and keep the plan’s policy maps in line with the goals of the plan, which are organized around the central themes of Connected Communities, Sustainable Places, and Vibrant Economy. These proposed updates are also informed by locally adopted policies and regulations that have been reviewed by the county and municipalities.

The proposed updates are mostly focused on changes to the plan's policy maps, including:

Public participation

MCPC shared information on the proposed updates to Montco's comprehensive plan, Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, at a public virtual meeting on May 24, 2021. Over 60 people registered for the meeting. The updates, representing adjustments to the adopted 2015 plan, are primarily focused on changes to the plan's policy maps, which were displayed and discussed. Participants had opportunities to view the maps and ask questions or comment. The meeting program and video are below. We invite the public to view the maps on this web page and use the comment form below to share input.
