The Child Care Information Service (CCIS) helps families living in Montgomery County with free assistance in accessing various types of child care available, including:
Day care centers - Licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) with a maximum number of children based on state regulations
Group day care homes - DHS-licensed with maximum of 12 children with at least two caregivers
Family day care homes - DHS-registered with maximum of six children
Relative - Unregulated by DHS with no more than three children not related to the provider; must comply with health and safety standards outlined in the agreement of participating in the subsidized child care program
Relative is defined as: Great grandparent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or sibling over 18 years old residing in a separate household.
