The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is an entitlement funding from HUD for the purpose of promoting community revitalization throughout the county.
CDBG funds are used for a wide range of community development activities including acquisition, rehabilitation, disposition, relocation, clearance, demolition, removal of architectural barriers, historical restoration, planning activities, public works projects, infrastructure improvements, public services, housing activities, and economic development.
Eligible activities must meet one of the CDBG’s three national objectives: (1) benefit low- and moderate-income persons (primary objective); (2) aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; and (3) meet other community development needs that present a serious and immediate threat to the health and welfare of the community. Over a 3 year period, at least 70% of the funds spent by the county must be used for activities that benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
