About the site
The Pennypacker Mills' 170 acre historic property includes many opportunities to learn about history and enjoy the landscape.

The serene country estate landscaped by Thomas Meehan and Sons to highlights the Colonial Revival mansion and surrounding farmland of 170 acres.  The historic landscape connects to the regional trail system across the bridge at Rt. 73.  On-site trails include a path across and circling the meadow.  Wildlife sited often includes bluebirds, hawks, deer, wild turkeys, fox, and groundhogs.  Pennypacker Mills Site Map

Originally constructed about 1720, the mansion was redesigned and enlarged by architect Arthur Brockie in 1901 to enhance a country gentleman’s lifestyle. The site's unusually well-documented and original collection of former Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker reflects his interests in early Pennsylvania history, German and Dutch settlers, native Americans, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.  The mansion also includes a Museum Shop with toys, books, games, and seasonal gifts and decorations that is open during regular hours.

Educational facilities include guided tours of the historic mansion and educational programs in 1900s History Center and Classroom.  Hands-on educational programs and activities can be scheduled for schools, scouts, and adult groups.

A multi-purpose classroom building is a rentable facility that is ideal for birthday parties, showers, and meetings.

Picnic facilities are available with eight tables located mostly in a shaded area near the restroom building.  The first floor of mansion, and restrooms are handicap accessible.
