Montgomery County Planning Commission Releases 2016 Annual Report

Norristown, PA (March 20, 2017) – The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) has released its 2016 Annual Report. The report highlights achievements from the year and outlines projects and plans for the future. It also focuses on how MCPC engages municipal leaders, businesses, and citizens to achieve these efforts and provides important resources for citizens and private and public decision makers.

“Through our work with communities, businesses, organizations, and engaged citizens, we were able to accomplish many projects and plans that will have a significant impact on the lives of county residents in the future,” said Jody L. Holton, AICP, executive director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission.

The report contains many accomplishments throughout 2016 and features:

  • · Creation of the Montco 2040 Implementation Grant Program, which awards grants to help municipalities launch projects related to better stormwater management, walkability improvements, and reinvestment in our employment centers.
  • · The completion of the Walk Montco plan and launch of Bike Montco, a new countywide bicycle mobility plan.
  • · The formation of the Wissahickon Clean Water Partnership, which involves 13 municipalities and three waste water treatment plants coming together to devise a plan for improving water quality in the Wissahickon Creek Watershed.
  • · The release of the guidebook, “Rethinking Institutional Properties: Embracing Our Past and Investing in Our Future,” which discusses strategies to proactively promote the adaptive reuse of institutional properties
  • · Assistance with the comprehensive plan processes in six municipalities
  • · An overview of important community projects completed under the Montgomery County Community Planning Assistance Contract Program.
  • · A look at the many ways MCPC shares information and promotes good planning in Montgomery County for the benefit of everyone.
