When hired to be a deputy by the sheriff of Montgomery County, you are initially trained by our instructors on the following:
Defensive and control tactics
Handcuffing and searching of prisoners
Working with chemical agents
After completing and passing the sheriff’s required training, a deputy must attend and pass further training given by the State of Pennsylvania (ACT II). This course is conducted at State College, Pennsylvania and consists of a 19-week, 760-hour curriculum.
Please note, in accordance with state code you must be a Montgomery County resident for two years prior to your date of application, and 21 years of age.
