Instructor Course Test Information
  • Instructor Level I: Written and Practical Challenge Test - May 5, 2012
This is the written and practical challenge test for the Pennsylvania Voluntary Certification Program accredited by the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NPQS) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Successful completion of a certification level permits you to apply to the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications for national certification and registry.

Instructor I Written Test
The Instructor I written test is 100 multiple choice questions based on the NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, 2007 Edition. The passing grade for the written test is 70%.

Practical Skills
The practical, hands-on skill testing for Instructor I will have three skill stations that must all be passed.

Materials
Download candidate handbooks, applications, and skill sheets from Pennsylvania State Fire Academy (PSFA) website. Candidates can also obtain the appropriate candidate handbook and application from Herbert D. Adams, Montgomery County Fire Academy coordinator, at 610-278-3500.

All applications, when totally completed and all necessary documents are attached, should be submitted (do not fax) by the registration spring deadline of April 15, 2011, and fall deadline of August 31, 2011, to:
