Montgomery County, through a network of contracted providers, coordinates services and supports for both adults and children with Intellectual Disabilities and their families. The focus of services is to assist individuals to live and participate in our community. The County Office partners with providers, supports coordinators, families and advocates to monitor and oversee the quality of services provided. Services include: supports coordination, information and referral, consultation and education, and family driven support services.The County Office also funds and provides quality oversight of residential and day programs including vocational rehabilitative services, competitive employment and adult training.
In addition, the County Office administers the Early Intervention Program, which is an entitlement service designed to meet the developmental needs of eligible infants and children (birth to three).
The Core Functions of the Developmental Disability Office is to verify eligibility for intellectual disability services through the Office of Developmental Programs; Oversight and monitor of providers of service; and review, approval and authorization of Individual Service Plans.
The Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Disabilities is a bureau within the Department of Human Services. They are responsible for the establishment of policy and regulations which govern the intellectual disability community program.
